MANI TSHOGPA ASSOCIATION
The Mani Tshogpa Association was established by Geshey Tenzin Wangdi in the year 2010. It is an organization comprising of pious Bhutanese people with an objective to uphold harmony and spread the dharma message of compassion in the world. Recitation of the Mantra of Avalokiteshvara, called “Mani” is believed to help liberation of all sentient beings from the earthly sufferings.
Mani Tshogpa is based in Thimphu with its membership spread in various Dzongkhags Particularly, in Thimphu (50 members), Merak (30), Sakteng (50), Kalikhola (30), Pengtse (15), Thongrong (100), Chaling (100), Phongmey (120). Rangjung (15). Moorfi Joenkhar 25), Janganma (20), Gaziri (50), Sakteng Manirong (I5), Sakteng Yuejug (28). Shongphu (25). Drungyi Gonpa Tongling (20) and Thrakthri (30).
To sustain the foundation, members contribute voluntarily Nu. 100 per month and we also receive donations from all individuals for the recitation of Mani during auspicious days. It has over 758 permanent members till date. The organization gather contributions from its members and any other individuals on every Buddhist auspicious day to recite the Mani
In 2014, this association started a travel agent named as Reldik Tours & Travel. This travel agent provides the service at an affordable rate to the tourists and the income generated is utilized for Mani recitation during auspicious days at all the communities located in different areas as mentioned above.
The association bear the expenses of approximately US $ 700 per day for recitation of Mani and to conduct puja during auspicious day, which includes expenditure for arrangement of program and catering of foods to the members and participants. It also entertains the devoted volunteers who come forth to recite the Mantra. The organization is proud to proclaim that each member is able to recite 20,000 Mani a day.
